Like sand through the hourglass…

I just read a great post, Two Time Fallacies at the Performance Consulting Blog.  Basically the author gives the two biggest lies we tell ourselves when it comes to time management:

1. We’re going to have more time at some unspecified future date than we do now.

Otherwise known as the basis of the fine art of procrastination, I consider myself to be a recovering addict in this area!  You know, one day at a time.

2. We can somehow save time.

This one reminds me of another old, sadly untrue rationalization that’s always been a favorite of mine, “I’ll catch up on sleep over the weekend.”

Just as time is a constant, sleep is not a mutual fund!  Unfortunately, you can’t add more hours to a day and there is no “making up” for a week’s worth of sleepless nights!

What other “lies” do we tell ourselves?  Does it ever work?
